We did it!

Last year’s Fully Booked event, combined with generous grants, allowed us to secure a downtown location to open The Write Place, 343 E. Main Street.

The center is a block from the San Joaquin County Superior Courthouse and within walking distance from a number of local schools.

So what’s next? Paper making and book binding, as well as creative writing opportunities for all ages, start in September. We’re also offering workshops in Palmer penmanship, so you can get your cursive on! And there’s more: we even hope to change the culture of substitute teaching. Sound intriguing? We hope so!

Attend our second Fully Booked, a dinner and dance fundraiser on September 29, 2017.

Help us continue to build

Build literacy

The goal is to combine a love of writing with curriculum developed by local educators. Proficiency at basic levels is a challenge for many in San Joaquin County.

Serve community

Writers should have a place to develop where work isn’t graded and no one fails. Our goal is to help community members use language to share their stories.

Unlock creativity

Writers seek to think, rethink, revisit and revise. The reward is pride in creating work that transcends time – and builds our history.
